Ocean Beach Ferry Schedule for September

IMPORTANT:
The day of the wedding, the 3pm ferry to Ocean Beach is the latest ferry guests should take in order to be on time for the reception. There will be a receiving party at the Seasons Bed and Breakfast as guests arrive from the ferry, so head over there when you get off the ferry. From there, everyone can then walk down to the beach for the ceremony together around 4:30pm or so.

Driving to the Ferry Terminal
From the Long Island Expressway, take Exit 53-Sagtikos Parkway South to Southern St. Parkway Eastern Long Island (left fork). Take Southern Parkway to first exit (Exit 42 South - Fifth Avenue) make left at stop sign and then right onto Fifth Avenue South. Take Fifth Avenue to first traffic light after railroad tracks. Make left onto Union Blvd. Turn right at 3rd light onto Fourth Avenue. Continue approx. 1/3 mile past second set of traffic lights (Fourth Ave. becomes Maple Ave.) The Main Terminal (Ocean Beach) is first terminal on the left.

Taking the train from New York City
The Long Island Rail Road can be taken from New York Penn Station directly to Bay Shore, and only takes about an hour. From there, shuttle buses to the Ferry Terminal run throughout the day (it's a quick 4 minute ride). Trains run roughly every hour. Visit mta.info for schedule information.

Flying into Long Island
If you're traveling from afar, there are several local airports to choose from. Islip/MacArthur Airport is located roughly 30 minutes from Bay Shore. This airport is a major hub for Southwest, so there should be reasonable fares available from all over the country. However, getting from Islip to Bay Shore can be a bit pricey, as a cab ride is really the only way to get there.

Your best bet would be flying into JFK International Airport, which has inbound flights from across the country. There is a monorail from JFK, called the AirTrain , that brings you right to the Jamaica train station. Here, you can ride the Long Island Rail Road directly to Bay Shore. The entire trip will cost around $18 a person and probably take less than an hour. Train schedules can be checked on the MTA website. (Do a search from Jamaica to Bay Shore.)
